This edited volume provides a solid yet accessible set of contributions for students, specialists, and practitioners of federalism. It also entails a commitment to normalizing the connection between federal studies and scholarship on pluralism and diversity management. In doing so, each chapter compares at least two federal systems in connection with a given institutional matter or area of public policy. The objective of each chapter is to shed light on a specific theme using the means of a rigorous comprehensive comparative approach. While the structure of the various chapters varies, they all offer (a) a brief overview of the scientific literature, (b) a clarification of the concepts and theoretical framework mobilized, (c) a comparison of at least two federal systems, and (d) a discussion of the limitations of their approach that also points to research areas that they identify as priorities for future researchers.
