BUILD YOUR OWN GPS "
GOD'S PROTECTIVE SERVICES" SERIES
My workbooks were developed through experience, trauma, and rejection. During a global pandemic I chose to pursue a degree in clinical mental health counseling. I completed the entire degree with only practicum and internship left. Five weeks into my last semester I had a virtual meeting with my advisor and the dean of the program. They both informed me I was being discharged from the program. During the conversation I was told "I did not understand the materials for the degree and would make a horrible counselor because I did not listen". The advisors told me I had two options 1) withdraw from all my current courses 2) or transfer into another program. They expected me to quit after the meeting. I made a choice to suffer in silence the next eleven weeks. I chose to show up, participate and complete all my courses with a positive mindset. As the end of the semester was approaching, I received the letter of dismissal from the program. I was still in disbelief my entire career was shattered from judgment. I hired a lawyer. I went through the appeal process. The decision was rescinded. I got my career and education back. I completed my final semester again for the second time. I was ready to go. I completed orientation and had clients scheduled. 72 hours before practicum started, I got my second dismissal from the school. I was confused with disbelief. I felt alone. I felt sad. I felt depressed. I felt scared. I felt in debt. I made another choice to advocate and educate.
All I had was my faith. I surrendered. This rejection led to the development of my business ImperfectA&K. I chose to turn my pain into mental health workbooks. I chose to heal others by offering tips discovering and learning about their own mental health. I chose to listen, rewrite, and incorporate my education into an eight-part series workbooks called God Protective Services. HAVE YOU HAD DETOURS ON YOUR GPS? HAVE YOU BEEN REROUTED ON TRIPS? HAVE YOU ARRIVED LATE? HAVE YOU ARRIVED ON TIME? ALLOW THIS WORKBOOK TO BE THE START OF YOUR OWN NAVIGATION
