The Life Of A Teenage Drag Queen: The Beginning

Times are hard for most teenagers and young adults. But for Casper Leonard, it isn't that easy. Casper has had an extremely difficult childhood and after being let of the children's homes and mental institutions, he has to learn how to live like everyone else. His father, who was as big a name as Santana and Elvis, died when he was seven and the woman who gave birth to him passes away in front of Casper a few months later. Casper was then put in foster care, where he lived a life full of abuse, neglect, and eventually kept locked up in solitary confinement at the mental hospitals for months at a time with no human contact.
Casper Leonard has to fight on a daily basis if not hourly to act like he is a normal teenager with normal problems. His half-sister Aurora only adds to his problems and eventually he is reunited with his father's side of his family. But his problems finally become more complicated and to help him cope from his hallucinations and hearing the voices of the people who had abused him, he slowly starts to see who he is to become. Through his natural musical talents and the people that really do love him, Casper starts to discover there is a world outside the mental health places he has lived at, the abuse he suffered from, and there is more for him to live for.
This novel is to expose the abuse and mental health of people who are survivors of being abused as children. It is a telling of a boy that has survived and becoming an adult. Though he suffers from many mental health problems, his struggles and fighting to stay free from those who had abused is a reminder that there are many people who are going through this on daily basis.
