Why do I want a book of quotes?
In a word... brevity.
You are holding thousands of years of insights from some of the greatest minds from across the centuries, cultures and genders.
I was collating quotes for a book meant to give a simple introduction to philosophy and encourage people to start crafting their very own "philosophies of life". Along the way I discovered something I fully expected to; there are so many incredible quotes out there!
I thought I knew that, but really, I didn't. Not completely.
Anyway, I wasn't doing any writing of said book, presently entitled, What is a Good Life: An Illustrated Trail of Breadcrumbs, available for pre-order here as well.Now, because there were so many gems out there, I took this side trip to collate them all before even continuing with the initial book.
They are organized first by theme and then further by author. I've done my best to nail down the themes which wasn't easy. I am not sure I have (or even can) settle on any as the only universal possibilities.
Finally, there is an index at the back to help you find the perfect quote for any occasion. (That took some work I can tell you!)
I have added the artwork to make it easier to digest and because of my own belief that life is more satisfying when we lose ourselves in creative expression.
