Where Did You Go to My Lovely?: A Spiritual Journey

I guess many of us have had an experience which has profoundly impacted our lives, it may have simply affected how we look at the world around us, or it may have been life-changing. More often than not, we simply allow the experience to slip by, failing to connect with and go with our emotions, ignoring what our heart desires, we let the words of our inner voice fall on stony ground, even though it is screaming out loud, our conscious mind turns a deaf ear. "Just go for it, take a chance, what have you got to lose?" This is one of those secrets of life, an opportunity missed by most, leaving a void, which may be a gaping hole or the tiniest of cracks, but however large or small, it remains unfulfilled, free to gnaw away at your soul like a deadly virus, where, unknown to you, it can negatively impact the rest of your life. So, if you genuinely believe in yourself and your goals, you do not need my advice, for you already possess the power to make it happen, the truth to your success is hardwired within, just flick the belief switch, and you will manifest your own reality.This is such a story, as seen through the eyes of an ageing man, that no matter how rewarding his life has been, he has never forgotten his first true love. However, telling his story poses him a moral dilemma, for as a rule he never allows himself to wish that things had been different, believing that the very thought, can somehow devalue the life he has lived, with both those he has loved and those he has lost. But his subconscious mind is not constrained by any of his moral constraints, or his conscience, and decides that the time has come, to break his self-imposed cardinal rule, and without his conscious minds consent or knowledge, it overrules what he would term his better nature.The story begins after his recovery from a life-threatening illness, following which the battle for control of his mind begins, after the use of hallucinogenic drugs to control his pain. Having made an amazing recovery, he is unaware of the covert battle raging within his mind, only beginning to notice when inexplicably, he finds himself on an unplanned journey of rediscovery, visiting the place where he had experienced his first taste of love and heartbreak, some 50 years before. Whilst on the journey he experiences, both a physical and a spiritual reunion with the girl of his dreams, during which time he spends a few precious moments in the skin of the young man he once was, reliving the passion and the intensity of the love, his conscious mind had thought was lost forever.
