Written for young children, Mommy, What Is a Missionary? tells the story of a loving mother who answers her daughter's tough questions about missionaries. Katie's mommy explains that missionaries love to tell others about how much Jesus loves them. And Katie learns that missionaries enjoy praying for little children like herself. Katie comes to realize that she can pray for missionaries too! In 2002, author Dan Schuch was asked to speak at the funeral of a dear friend, a missionary who had died suddenly, leaving behind a wife and two young kids. On the night before the funeral, Schuch had a vision from God, which led to writing this book. Mommy, What Is a Missionary? honors Schuch's missionary friend, while imparting to children an understanding and appreciation for the role missionaries play in building God's kingdom. Children will be engaged by the whimsical illustrations. Guided by appropriate questions on each page, parents and teachers will have fun introducing kids to the important work missionaries do. Designed for use at home or in Sunday School, this book provides a positive way for kids to support missionaries. Some people say Dan Schuch is a twelve-year-old trapped inside the body of a person who crossed over the half-century mark. He suffers from a serious addiction to higher education, as evidenced by his bachelor's degree, three master's degrees, and seminary training thrown in. He is most passionate about teaching a weekly adult Bible study, something he has done for the past thirty years, and developing his own Bible study materials. Dan deeply loves his wife, Chaleen, and shares his life with her and three cats. Mommy, What Is a Missionary? is Dan's first Christian children's book.
