Andrea Mantegna (c. 1431–1506) and Giovanni Bellini (active c. 1459; died 1516) each produced groundbreaking paintings, marked by pictorial and technical innovations, that are among the masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance. Caroline Campbell is Jacob Rothschild Head of the Curatorial Department at the National Gallery, London. Dagmar Korbacher is curator of Italian and French drawings and prints at the Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin. Neville Rowley is curator of early Italian paintings and sculpture at the Gemäldegalerie and Bode Museum, Berlin. Sarah Vowles is Hamish Swanston Curator of Italian and French Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, London.
