Most tropical and subtropical fruits, as well as some temperate crops, are sensitive to chilling injuries. These crops are injured after a period of exposure to chilling temperatures below 10 to 15°C but above their freezing points. In the last decade progress has been made in understanding the biochemistry, physiology, and molecular basis of CI. This book will provide the detailed information on postharvest chilling injury such as symptoms, variation, causes, influencing factors, physiology, biochemistry and molecular basis. It also offers management practices through physical, chemical, hormonal, and other treatments.

作者簡介

Dr. Sunil Pareek obtained Ph.D. in Horticulture (PHT) from Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner, India. He joined Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, India in 2005. Before moving as Associate Professor to National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), Kundli, Haryana, India in 2015 he was at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, India from 2005 to 2015. He is involved in teaching UG, PG and Ph.D. students with special focus on postharvest physiology, technology and processing of fruits. Dr. Pareek has published more than 40 papers, 40 presentations in National and International Seminars and Conferences, 6 books, 3 manuals, 6 technical bulletins, 40 popular articles, and several book chapters to his credit.

Suresh K. Malhotra is presently working as Agriculture and Horticulture Commissioner in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. He had his graduation in 1984 and post-graduation in horticulture from GBPUA&T, Pantnagar in 1986 and Ph. D. from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar in 1989. He has contributed immensely not only for research but also for infrastructure development at National Research Center on Seed Spices. His major research contributions are development of 13 high yielding varieties of seed spice crops such as coriander, fenugreek, ajowan, dill, anise, nigella and fennel. He has been visiting scientist at Cornell University Ithaca, USA and worked in the USAID project of value chain management and also at Taiwan Agriculture Research Institute, Fengshan. He represented India in G 20 meeting of agriculture chief scientists at Moscow and also in the International Date Council Meeting held at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Chief Scientists meet at Tashkent in Uzbekistan, CODEX-CCFFV meeting at Phuket in Bangkok and recently at Mexico. He has published over 80 research papers in national and international journals, 38 book chapters (10 in international books), 53 articles, 8 books, 14 manuals/bulletins, 12 reports to his credit.
