台南市歸仁區與關廟區間鹽水溪之整治計畫工程位置因與大昌橋遺址範圍部分重疊，本局依文資法相關規定，於民國103年委託庶古文創事業股份有限公司辦理搶救發掘計畫。
本次發掘出土許多考古遺留，主要為陶質與石質標本，屬於大坌坑文化，距今約4700~4200年前。生態遺留則以貝類標本為主，另有少量破碎獸骨與魚骨。
經地層分析顯示，本遺址受到河道侵蝕作用之影響，原生地層幾已破壞殆盡，在67個探坑中只發現3處相互堆疊之灰坑，而多數的遺留則屬水道內之二次堆積。
The Dachang Bridge Site salvage excavation project conducted by Archaeo Cultures Co. in 2014 was an exercise required by the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act.
The excavation yielded large quantity of archaeological remains, mainly ceramic and lithic artifacts dated back to 4,700 through 4,200 ago, as well as ecological remains including shells and bones.
According to the stratigraphic analysis, the site was disturbed heavily by river erosion through time, with only 3 trash pits were discovered while all others secondary deposition.
