The spread, speed, and intensity of growth of emerging market multinational enterprises (EMMNEs), especially from Asia, have caught the world by surprise. Their impact on international business represents new thinking in terms of motives, opportunities, and constraints behind their internationalization, distinguishing them from MNEs from developed countries.

India does not fit neatly into the existing institutional or cultural boxes that we have available to us. Thus, it is interesting to find out if there is a distinctive India Way articulated by senior Indian corporate leaders. To analyse these key issues, this book looks at the strategic intent conceptualized at the headquarters of several well-known Indian multinationals along with the implementation of this strategy in key global markets.

To that extent, the book differentiates international strategy in two vastly different markets developed and developing. Taken together, the chapters provide a comprehensive picture on emerging multinational firms from India and enable the readers to compare and contrast their features, issues, challenges, and strategies with those from other emerging economies.

Mohan Thite, Associate Professor in Human Resource Management (HRM) at Griffith University, Australia.,Adrian Wilkinson,Professor of Employment Relations at Griffith University, Australia, and Director of the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing.,Pawan Budhwar,Professor of International HRM at Aston Business School, UK

Mohan Thite is currently an Associate Professor in Human Resource Management (HRM) at Griffith University, Australia. His career as a management professional spans over 30 years, both in industry and academia. He is a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute. His research and publications cover a broad range of management areas, including strategic HRM, Human Resource Information System (HRIS), HRM in Indian Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, multinationals from emerging economies, IT project leadership and global mobility of IT talent via services offshoring and skilled migration. He has maintained very close academic and industry links with India as reflected in his research projects and publications. He has been awarded research grants from the Society for HRM (SHRM), USA and Queensland Government, Australia. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of South Asian Journal of HRM.

Adrian Wilkinson is Professor of Employment Relations at Griffith University, Australia, and Director of the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing. He previously worked at Loughborough University, UK. Adrian has published 20 books and over 150 articles in academic journals. In 2011 he was elected as an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences. He has also served on the Australian Research Council College of Experts. Adrian is Honorary Visiting Professor at Sheffield, Durham, and Loughborough universities and an Academic Fellow at Cambridge University. He was the only Australian listed in the names of the top 20 global thinkers by HR Magazines Most Influential 2012.

Pawan Budhwar is a Professor of International HRM at Aston Business School, UK. He received his doctorate from Manchester Business School and prior to moving to Aston in 2003, he worked at Cardiff Business School, UK for six years and MD University, India for five years. He is the co-founder and first President of the Indian Academy of Management, an affiliate of Academy of Management, USA. Pawan has published over 100 articles in leading journals on strategic HRM related topics with a specific focus on India and also written and/or co-edited 13 books on HRM related topics for different national and regional contexts. He is the Editor-in-Chief of British Journal of Management, an Associate Editor of Human Resource Management, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), British Academy of Management and the Academy of Social Sciences
