The quilts Kaffe has chosen are beautiful in their own right but his new take on them is also exquisite, each in a different way. Seeing his designer’s eye at work picking out the elements to revisit is an education in itself. The results are stunning, both vibrant and graphic.
The fabrics in his current collection are designed by himself, Philip Jacobs and Brandon Mably. As always, Kaffe and Philip opt for eye-catching, colorful designs in bright fabrics. Combined with Brandon’s simpler, graphic patterns these offer the ideal range for quilt makers, with heritage patterns such as Hearts and Crosses, Log Cabin, and Church Window reinvented in wonderful, contemporary colors. There are also reinventions of older, rarer quilt patterns—all chosen for their amazing design and beauty.
In addition to a wonderful photographic gallery of the quilts themselves, the book contains full step by step piecing instructions, with detailed diagrams. It also contains a general patchwork how-to section for anyone who is new to quilt making or needs to refresh their techniques.
