Islamic education has undergone a renaissance of sorts, due to recent social and political movements in the Middle East and a focus on Muslim society more generally. The rise in literature on the matter provides new perspectives on ethics, secularization, power relations, child psychology, multiculturalism, interfaith dialogue and moral education. However, much of this literature pushes a specific ‘philosophy’ of education which further marginalizes its position both within and outside of traditional educational studies.
