Jnati, Jamati, and Ummati is a multidisciplinary diachronic study of the historical development of Khoja religious identity in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam over two centuries, from an Indic Hindu-Muslim caste (jnati) to an Afro-Asian Muslim community (jamati) towards a Near Eastern imaged Islamic nation (ummati).
作者簡介
Iqbal Akhtar, Ph.D. (2013), Florida International University, is Assistant Professor of Religious Studies. He has published articles on American Muslim identity and East African Khoja historiography, including the forthcoming article Negotiating the racial boundaries of Khoja caste membership in late 19th century colonial Zanzibar (1878-1899) in the Journal of Africana Religions.
