The book examines the planning, conducting, and completing of meeting responsibilities in explicit detail and also highlights important factors not covered in the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) certification process.

作者簡介

Marv Howell has been a facilitator for over 30 years. He has facilitated groups, teams, and events on many different occasions. For the last eight years, he has successfully facilitated the implementation of ISO 140001 EMS in eight facilities. All eight facilities successful passed a second party audit, achieved cost reductions and savings, reduced their environmental risks in the work place, and improved their environmental performance significantly. His energy initiatives saved DEA over $300,000 a year in electricity costs. He was trained in early 1980s by FPL to be one of their original quality facilitators and actively participated in its successful pursuit of the Deming Prize. The FPL Facilitation Course was one of the most popular in that time and many of America’s best companies received this training as part of their quality journey preparation. He was President and Director of Quality Management Technologies, Inc. an industrial engineering, quality improvement, and continuous improvement consulting firm in Miami, Florida. His clients included Intel, Oklahoma State University at Oklahoma City, and squadrons, wings, AFCE, Commands, and headquarters of the USAF. He was previously the manager of FPL’s Distribution Planning and Reliability. Marv is a retired USAF Lt. Col. He served 20 years in Air Force civil engineering. He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University and a MS in Industrial Engineering from University of Pittsburgh. Marv is a professional engineer from the State of Alabama.

May 2003 to Present: Part-time Industrial Engineering Consultant in the Utility and Construction Industry. Writing two books to be published in the near future (one on Performance Measurement and one on Improving Major Construction Performance).

Marv has helped numerous organizations (Manufacturing, Utilities, Environmental, Construction, Military, Government, Hospitalities, Universities and Others) significantly improve their performance and increase their customer satisfaction. These results came through Strategic Planning, Process improvement, Teams, Problem Solving, Employee Training Unit Self Assessments, Supplier Quality Management, and other key actions. He has developed for clients Measurement Systems and Customers Satisfaction Measurement Systems. Marv has taught nationally and internationally numerous management seminars to include: Strategic Planning, Measurement Development, Customers Surveys Development, Roadmap Development, Benchmarking, Process Improvement, Advanced Facilitation, Focus Groups, Quality Functional Development, Team Building, Problem Solving, Quality Tools, Unit Self Assessments , etc. He has introduced Reliability Centered Maintenance Concepts for FPL, developed Measurement-Based Management systems for Air Force Squadrons and Major Commands. He has helped many civilian and military organizations develop a Strategic Plan and a Continuous Improvement Program.

Feb. 1979 to Aug. 1991(Florida Power and Light Co.)

Started as a Management Analyst, then promoted to Senior Analyst, Supervising Analyst, Program Coordinator, and to Manager. Marv planned and developed the first major successful Quality Improvement effort at FPL. He developed a management system for St. Lucie 2 Nuclear Plant Construction that increased workforce utilization and productivity, significantly improved system turnover and reduced days from the construction schedule saving millions. He replicated this system at Turkey Point Nuclear Generator Repair Projects with similar results. For FPL’s power plants, Marv developed a workforce utilization program, improved the maintenance management system to include the forerunner to a comprehensive reliability program.
