The land was being sold to help pay the debts of the American Revolution.The group buying the American land became known as the "French 500." This story will trace the lives of Francis Valodin, a reported stowaway, and Pierre Antoine Laforge, an aristocrat, back to France then on to where they and their families lived in America.
