Meixner explores conflicting philosophies of psychology or philosophies of mind, one epitomized by Czech-born German philosopher Edmund Husserl (1859-1938) and the other by Austrian-British philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951). For all their differences, he says, neither were much interested in psychological fact-finding or genetic or causal explanations of the mental, and were both at bottom concerned with developing fundamental conceptual frameworks for the description of mental life.
