《越劇：梁山伯與祝英臺》是中國戲曲海外傳播工程叢書的一種。作者從梁山伯與祝英臺的傳說談起，分析了中國文化背景下這一民間傳說的發展，以及隨時代變化的演變。此外，作者用比較大的篇幅介紹了越劇梁山伯與祝英臺的演變和海外傳播。附錄部分附有英文劇本和越劇ABC，供感興趣的讀者閱讀。
作者簡介
石逸莉博士，目前為美國密蘇里大學英語教授。1982年畢業畢業于西安外國語學院，獲得文學學士學位。畢業后留校在英語系任教，從事精讀和聽力教學。1989年由鮑林格林大學英語系主任巴伯教授的極力推薦，作為交換項目的教師去鮑林格林大學攻讀碩士，專業為英語，主攻方向是英語二外教學。1991年獲得碩士學位后，進入印第安納州的波爾大學攻讀博士，專業為應用語言學。1998年在導師律得教授的指導下完成博士論文，題目為《中英文中的指代詞組》。同年又接受密蘇里州立大學的聘請，成為助理教授在英語系從事語言學、寫作和英語二外教學方法論等課程的教學。2008年被評為正教授。在校十年期間發表一本專著，題目為：《用“已知層次”理論分析中文語境中的指代詞組》。并在不同的雜志上發表多篇專題學術文章，如，國際語言學學會雜志，南方語言學雜志和加拿大和美國語言協會的雜志上。學術的主攻方向為通過語用學（Pragmatics, Discourse）來分析語言的用法。在密蘇里州大學多次取得學院和大學的優秀教師獎，優秀研究獎和優秀社會服務獎。

Yingtai andShanbo are in deep love, missing each other dearly while they were apart.They would never imagine that this meeting would be their last. AfterShanbo goes back home, he becomes sick and soon is dead. Before death,he tells his family to inscribe "Liang Shanbo" in black and "Zhu Yingtai"in red on the headstones. Though they cannot be a married couple in life,they want to be buried together after life.
After hearing the news, Zhu Yingtai insists on paying a visit toShanbos home, mourning Shanbo. Dressed in white, she appears inShanbo home, broken-hearted. On her wedding day, the bridal sedanchair is waiting outside to pick her up. Yingtai, following what she andher father have previously agreed on, steps on the sedan chair goingtoward Liang Shanbos grave in Huqiao County first before going to Mashouse to get married. Yingtai steps out of the sedan chair and mournsbefore Shanbos grave. "Im coming, Brother Liang," Yingtai criedsadly. Suddenly, a great crash of thunder comes, shaking the earth, andmaking the sky dark, followed by huge winds and a heavy thunderstorm.The grave explodes and leaves a big opening, into which Yingtai jumpswithout hesitation.
Quickly, the rain stops and the sky becomes bright again. Thegrave resumes to its normal shape. With the rainbows stretching out andflowers in blossom, two colorful butterflies are dancing. People would liketo believe that the butterflies dancing freely among the flowers are LiangShanbo and Zhu Yingtais spirit.
