The what to think style enables individuals to function primarily inside of known and predictable situations -- a valuable skill, but not enough in today's business environment, which is characterized by uncertainty and constant change. The how to think style prepares people to adapt to unique and emerging situations that occur with greater frequency, and at all organizational levels, than ever. Movement along the path from what to think to how to think is called the Value Continuum. People go through three phases on this path, this continuum: time to value, value potential, and value spanning. The outcome of improved thinking for both employee and business is improved value, which in turn improves thinking. This self-reinforcing, self-perpetuating cycle is called the Thinking Effect.
