Mapping Arab Women's Movements ─ A Century of Transformations from Within

This pioneering collection of analyses focuses on the ideologies and activities of formal women's organizations and informal women's groups across a range of Arab countries. Pernille Arenfeldt is assistant professor of history at the American University of Sharjah (United Arab Emirates). Her research and teaching interests are centered on early modern Europe and the modern/contemporary history of the Arabian Gulf, with a particular focus on gender-related questions.


Nawar Al-Hassan Golley is associate professor of critical theory and women's studies at the American University of Sharjah. Her research and teaching interests are focused on feminism and women's studies, Arab women's writings, autobiography and post-colonial literatures and discourses.
