商品簡介
This biographical dictionary is the third book in a set of three on 19th-century major league baseball players, umpires, managers, and owners. The entries, arranged in sections on team position or role, offer vital statistics and biographical info on less-known figures in the history of the sport. In addition to providing a detailed sense of the person's role in the game, entries give specific information on games, life events, skills, and circumstances of death. The entries also provide readers with excerpts revealing the spirit and flavor of 19th-century baseball writing. Statistical information is kept to a minimum. Nemec has written many other books on baseball history. Annotation Ac2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
