After reviewing the role of transport in the economy, five chapters explain current approaches to transport demand modeling followed by eight chapters analyzing the costs of building the infrastructure and operating the services. The second half of the dense volume addresses the changing public policy towards transport, examining optimal collective decisions from a welfare perspective and how the mix of competitive forces and regulatory constraints affects transport markets.
