In this reprint of the classic 1922 Cambridge University Press edition, Whitehead describes his alternate explanation of the theory of relativity, beginning with a philosophical rendering of his general principles. He follows this with description of the physical results of his work in physical applications, including the equations of motion but concentrating on gravitation and electromagnetic fields, In his closing chapters he examines his elementary theory of tensors, including elementary properties, the process of restriction, the Galilean tensor and tensors of the second order, and the differentiation of tensor components.
