Fundamentals of Information Studies

Lester (library and information studies, U. of Oklahoma) and Koehler (information studies, Valdosta U.) present a text for undergraduate and graduate students that introduces information studies, combining theory with everyday examples. They cover not only information and information activity but the social, political, economic, and cultural environment. They focus on the contemporary context and connect it to its historical roots, and emphasize themes of the impact of the development of technology on access to and use of information and resulting changes to society. Professions, information policy, ethics and copyright and privacy are also addressed. This edition has been revised and expanded to include two new chapters on user behavior and the interrelationship of information and power.
