How to Design a Light

Part of a collection of small art and design books from the Design Museum in London, this volume presents a collection of color photographs with accompanying essays and captions on designing lights. The work is divided into four main parts beginning with an introduction defining the form, lighting, followed by a section on principles of lighting including illumination, diffusion and direction and a section on the process, including types of lights, design eras, materials and methods. The fourth section of the work is a case study showcasing a light designed by Arnold Chan, including an interview with the prominent lighting designer and a collection of photos of his work.
