The Continuum Of Design Education

The 22 full papers, about ten pages each, and 18 posters, about five pages each, address the full spectrum of education in engineering design from the primary through the secondary and tertiary, to continuing professional development, sharing experiences of creating future engineers. In addition to overviews of principles and the program in Scotland, they discuss such topics as views and practices at Delft in The Netherlands, craft verses cerebral skills, establishing a dialogue between mathematics and technology, exploring the effectiveness of network-based tools in distributed conceptual design activity, introducing design and manufacturing to second-year Swedish engineering undergraduates, integrated design, teaching cost-awareness in design for manufacturing injection molding, and admission by points or potential.
