Historical Dictionary of Bertrand Russell's Philosophy

Carey (philosophy, Lehman college--CUNY) and Ongley, editor of the Bertrand Russell Society Quarterly provide a handy source for students of Bertrand Russell. The body of the work is a dictionary of terms used by or affiliated with Russell. This is prefaced by a chronology of his life and publications, followed by a short narrative biography and cultural background. The dictionary entries are often short essays, all thoroughly crossed referenced. Russell's work encompassed mathematics, philosophy and political activism. Rosalind Carey is assistant professor of philosophy at Lehman College-CUNY. She is the author of Russell and Wittgenstein on the Nature of Judgement, serves on the board of directors of the Bertrand Russell Society, and founder and is president of the History of Early Analytic Philosophy Society.

John Ongley is editor of the Bertrand Russell Society Quarterly and serves on the board of directors of the Bertrand Russell Society. He teaches philosophy-most recently at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania-and is currently writing Bertrand Russell: A Guide for the Perplexed.
