Burg, who is not identified, describes tax revolts beginning in first- century China, Babylon in the second millennium BCE, and Rome at the turn of the era to recent ballot measures in California. He includes many disturbances for which tax was merely one, and often a minor, element in the dissatisfaction. Both the chapters and the entries within them are arranged chronologically, but are also indexed. At least one bibliographic reference is provided for each article, citing recent translations and editions when appropriate. Distributed by Taylor and Francis. 作者簡介
David F. Burg has taught humanities for over twenty years at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. He is the author of several books on American history including Chicago's White City of 1893, The Encyclopedia of Student and Youth Movements, and The American Revolution: An Eyewitness History.
