「2009臺北美術獎」旨在獎掖富當代精神的藝術創作，共徵集380件作品參賽，內容涵蓋平面、立體、錄像、裝置等，展現新生代特有的觀點與創作爆發力。得獎作品多面向聚焦當下社會文化，展現年輕藝術家關注的議題。透過他們獨具的思維與無畏的藝術實踐，顛覆觀眾的既有想像，為當代藝壇寫下源源不絕的驚嘆號。
The 2009 Taipei Arts Awards are intended to reward and promote artistic creativity in a contemporary spirit, covering such forms as one-dimensional, three-dimensional, video and installation art, to display the creative power and perspectives unique to the new generation. All the prize-winning works are focused on current social culture, presenting themes of concern to young artists. Through their unique thinking and fearless practice of their art, their creators turn their audiences’ ideas upside down, and inscribe an eternal exclamation mark for the contemporary art world.
