枇杷為薔薇科(Rosaceae)，枇杷屬(Eriobotrya)植物，原產地在中國大陸南方，多種植於北緯33.5以南地區。屬於常綠果樹，經濟樹齡可達50~60年以上，目前臺灣栽培主要為由日本引進之"茂木"。枇杷果實在春季成熟，果肉柔軟多汁，酸甜適口，風味佳，深受國人的喜愛。
