The uneven process of heating and cooling during welding can cause distortions in the metal components which create residual stresses. Welding distortion is a particular problem in fabricating thin plate structures, such as ships. Based on pioneering research by the authors, this book reviews ways of modeling and testing welding distortion and illustrates how this understanding can be used to develop design and manufacturing strategies to reduce welding distortion and its effects.
作者簡介
Thomas Gray is Visiting Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, UK.
Duncan Camilleri is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malta, Malta.
Norman McPherson works at BAE Systems, a global provider of defense and security products.
