作者簡介
威廉.H.麥加菲，美國著名教育家，終身從事教育工作。1800年出生于美國賓夕法尼亞州，1826年畢業于華盛頓大學。1845年開始擔任弗吉尼亞大學道德哲學教授，任職達28年之久，深受學生們的歡迎和尊敬。他花費近20年，編寫了一套從一級到六級的讀物。這套讀物一面世就受到廣泛歡迎，迅速覆蓋了美國各地，有37個州把這套讀物當做教材。直到今天，這套讀物的熱度依然不減。在這100多年里，銷量高達1.3億冊，可以說影響了美國幾代人的心靈。
