Things would look pretty different.Has anyone ever tried on a pair of those blue-blocker sunglasses, or any sunglasses withamber lenses? The world looks pretty different. This is what censorship does. Censor-ship can change the mix of things and ultimately effect the way we see the big picture, our knowledge. The second related effect of censoring the internet is reduced knowl-edge. This is a simple but very important concept to understand. Our knowledge isderived from the information we think through. If censorship changes the naturaldiversity of information on the WWW, the way we think with our minds is changed inthe same way that our vision is altered when the light spectrum is narrowed. This mightchange our knowledge in such a way that our ability to see the truth would be altered.Maybe the truth would just look different and unrecognizable under different light.Either way, we may risk losing the truth.
6 If we lose the truth, what can we follow? The truth is what gives us orientation towhat is right in life. If we lose the truth, our new truth would become the truth given tous by those in power. They would be able to filter the information we receive, howeverthey want.
7 Censoring the largest, most diverse source of information our planet has everknown can make manipulation easy. If we allow the Internet to be censored, we mayallow the essential diversity of information on the WWW to be altered. As the diversityof information on the web is reduced, so is the knowledge we might find to use in oursearch for the truth. If we lose the truth, we would be at the mercy of an artificial, fil-tered truth given to us by those in power. We would be at the mercy of whoever is syn-thesizing the truth, for whatever purpose they want to use us.
