商品簡介
Harvey, an international pioneer in the digital curation movement, describes basics and current practice of digital curation in this guide for librarians and archivists, and for scientists and scholars who plan to collect and use data. The book presents an original curation lifecycle model developed by the Digital Curation Centre; this model is presented in relationship to a key standard, the OAIS Reference model. Key components for digital curation are outlined, such as standards for description and representation, steps for preservation planning and policy creation, and technologies for sharing knowledge and collaborating. The last part of the book describes the digital curation life cycle in action, with material on tools and standards for ingesting, preserving, storing, using, and reusing data. Examples of digital curation practice in the UK and Europe are given. A companion website provides checklists and templates for developing plans and procedures. Harvey, now visiting professor at Simmons College, was the inaugural professor of library and information studies at Charles Sturt University, Australia.
