本書為國家級職業教育培訓規劃教材，由勞動保障部培訓就業司推薦。
本書根據勞動和社會保障部頒發的金藍領技師教育培訓教學計劃和教學大綱，由勞動和社會保障部教材辦公室組織編寫。主要內容包括英文識圖和英文說明書兩部分。具體分為機械製圖、電氣控製圖、通用機床、數控機床及編程、模具技術、金屬切削、可編程邏輯控制器、電工儀表測量、數控機床診斷與維修、電子技術。附錄部分收錄了工程圖中常用的專業術語、熱處理和工程材料常用的專業詞匯、電子信息技術術語。為了便于學習，書后還附有參考譯文及練習答案。
本書為金藍領技師教育培訓公共課程教材，也可作為企業技師培訓教材和自學用書。
