本書是在給外國語言學及應用語言學專業的碩士研究生開設的語言測試課程講義的基礎上編寫而成。本書主要分為三個部分。第一部分（第2—5章）介紹、評價主要的現代語言測試模型，包括心理測量學一結構主義語言測試模型、綜合語言測試模型、交際語言運用測試模型，以及Bachman的語言測試模型。第二部分（第6—12章）介紹、簡單評價詞匯、語法結構、聽力理解、閱讀理解、口語、寫作測試的主要方法以及語言測試的構卷與實施。第三部分（第13—15章）介紹與測試及測試研究相關的數據統計方法。
本書的目標讀者是外國語言學及應用語言學專業的碩士研究生、英語教師、英語專業的師范生及其他對語言測試感興趣的人士，力求為初次涉獵語言測試專業領域的目標讀者全面介紹語言測試的基本理論概念、實踐方法和研究手段。本書用英語編寫的目的是為目標讀者閱讀語言測試的英語文獻打下基礎。

作者簡介
王振亞，1982年畢業于北京航空航天大學外語系英語專業，獲文學學士學位，留校任教。1988年畢業于北京航空航天大學研究生碩士學位。1991年畢業于北京大學英語系英語語言文學專業，獲文學博士學位。1991年到1999年在北京航空航天大學外語系任教。1993年起享受政府特殊津貼。1997年晉升教授。1999年至今任北京語言大學外語學院英語系教授、博士生導師。2007年獲北京市高校教學名師獎。主要研究領域包括語言與文化、語言測試、系統功能語法。
