Read of a time that we will never experience. In 1935, Alex was born on the family farm in Comber, Ontario, Canada. He grew up without electricity or indoor plumbing and faced hardships which many people today would find difficult to imagine.
During childhood, Alex played where he shouldn't, had run-ins with the law, and overcame a serious illness. He had many jobs, such as a pinsetter at a bowling alley and vegetable picker in the canning industry.
Within these pages are quotes from Alex and the stories he wrote for his grown children about his experiences. He wrote with humour, nostalgia, and a unique flare. His rich life touched the lives of his family and friends, many of whom share their memories of Alex in this book.

Proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Riverview Park and Zoo. Located in Peterborough, Ontario, it is Canada's only accredited free admission zoo.
