元妃歸天，迎春出嫁，探春藉機外出探視被趕出府的丫鬟司棋，雖有心相救，終究於事無補。大觀園海棠花死而復生逆時而開、通靈寶玉遺失、賈府面臨抄家危機，探春自告奮勇願遠嫁海疆，試圖力挽狂瀾，趙姨娘江邊遠送，徒留遺憾……
探春有才有志，但有心無力、一事難成；唯一能做的，是堅守自己勁直清正的人格。
As Wang Shi-Fong is sick, Lady Wang gives the order for Tan-chun to take over the responsibility of managing the household affairs. It so happens that Zhao Guo-ji , a house servant and Tan-chun’s uncle, died of an illness, so Tan-chun’s birth mother, Mistress Zhao, gets into an argument over the money given for his funeral with Tan-chun. Though servants and maids stand aside and gloat over the argument, Tan-chu insists on giving the money according to the house rule.
The Jia clan cannot make their ends meet, so Tan-chun promotes what is beneficial and abolishes what is harmful to increase the income produced by the Grand View Garden. Mistress Zhao, who is not respected due to her crude and vulgar manners, secretly tries to stir up trouble by giving the pornographic sachet that she picked up to Silly Girl. Wang Shi-Fong thus ransacks the Grand View Garden in search of it on a brisk fall evening with candles and torches. Tan-chun resists such an insult, but when Mama Wang casually searches through her closet, she becomes furious. Mistress Zhao stands up to defend her daughter, and the whole scene turns into a farce.
Princess Yuan dies, Ying-chun marries, and Tan-chun takes the chance to get out of the mansion to visit Si-qi, a maid, who was forced to leave the mansion. Though she tries to save her, it is all in vain. The begonia plants in the Grand View Garden have revived and the flowers bloom in the wrong season, precious Tong-ling Jade is lost, and the Jia family is threatened with the loss of their estate. Tan-chun tries to solve the troubles of her family by offering to be married off in the far-off coastal area. Mistress Zhao goes to the river to see her off, but nothing can be changed…
Tan-chun is talented and ambitious, but she cannot fulfill her ambition. All she can do is to remain dignified and upright.
