The Larvae of Indo-Pacific Coastal Fishes ─ An Identification Guide to Marine Fish Larvae

Keis and Carson-Ewart, both affiliated with the Australian Museum, overview larval development in 125 fish families (plus one incertae sedis group) of the tropical Indo-Pacific, many of which are important from both ecological and fishery perspectives. The handbook documents the fishes' ontogeny and provides a means to the identify their diverse larvae to the level of family. B&w drawings and an illustration-based identification guide accompany detailed descriptive material. The handbook focuses on the tropical regions of the Indo- Pacific, but many of the 125 families also occur in other tropical waters as well as in warmer temperate seas. This second, soft-cover edition is essentially the same as the hardback edition, but a number of corrections have been included, and there is new information added on the Schindleriidae to reflect the discovery of a new species.
