商品簡介

This work advocates for new framework to examine the lives of "disadvantaged" students, in order to understand the political, class, and racial context of education in Australia and around the world. The research draws on ethnographic interviews with young people in Australia to reveal the material realities of social and educational disadvantage and the process by which young people form "learning identities." The book challenges educational reforms such as standardized testing and instead advocates that educators draw on the strengths of students and neighborhoods.
