本書在《電子技術專業英語教程》的基礎上, 根據4年的教學反饋修訂而成, 對過時的內容進行了刪減, 增加了新的內容, 對全文的翻譯重新校對。新增加的內容除考慮了內容的時效性外, 也考慮了專業英語授課的特殊性, 書中原有經典章節繼續保留, 調整后的內容更適合課堂教學。
主要修改的內容如下: 在開篇加入2課(4個學時)科技英語的翻譯技巧, 這些翻譯技巧在專業英語的授課中使用頻率較高, 主要涉及詞法、 句法及難句的翻譯, 對第1版書的Unit 4、 Lesson 14、 Lesson 19、 Lesson 24、 Lesson 28 進行了內容的刪減和替換, 同時新增了Computer Program Design(C Introduction、 HDL Languge、 Perl)和Communication Network Technology(Basic Telecommunications Network、 Third Generation Cellular Systems、 Multimedia Networking)等內容。

The graphical approach also allows non-programmers to build programs simply bydragging and dropping virtual representations of lab equipment with which they are alreadyfamiliar. The LabVIEW programming environment, with the included examples and thedocumentation, makes it simple to create small applications. This is a benefit on one side, butthere is also a .certain danger of underestimating the expertise needed for good quality "G"programming. For complex algorithms or large-scale code, it is important that theprogrammer possesses an extensive knowledge of the special LabVIEW syntax and thetopology of its memory management. The most advanced LabVIEW development systemsoffer the possibility of building stand-alone applications. Furthermore, it is possible to createdistributed applications, which communicate by a client/server scheme, and are thereforeeasier to implement due to the inherently parallel nature of C-code.
One benefit of LabVIEW over other development environments is the extensive supportfor accessing instrumentation hardware. Drivers and abstraction layers for many differenttypes of instruments and buses are included or are available for inclusion. These presentthemselves as graphical nodes. The abstraction layers offer standard software interfaces tocommunicate with hardware devices. The provided driver interfaces save program developmenttime. The sales pitch of National Instruments is, therefore, that even people with limitedcoding experience can write programs and deploy test solutions in a reduced time frame whencompared to more conventional or competing systems. A new hardware driver topology(DAQmxBase), which consists mainly of G-coded components with only a few register callsthrough NI Measurement Hardware DDK (Driver Development Kit) functions, providesplatform independent hardware access to numerous data acquisition and instrumentationdevices. The DAQmxBase driver is available for LabVIEW on Windows, Mac OS X and Linuxplatforms.
