After his education in Brussels, Mackay became a writer for?The Sun,?an assistant sub-editor for the?Morning Chronicle, and a correspondent for?The Times?during the American Civil War.?Mackay’s most notable books are?Extraordinary Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, Life and Liberty in America,?and?Lost Beauties of the English Language.
