The first part of the book covers basics such as sync speeds and on-camera flash. The book then gives instructions for creating a photo studio in each room of the house, even the garage and the backyard, and shows how to make various do-it-yourself accessories out of household items. Although the book is marketed to those with no previous experience with a camera or flash, the exercises require gear a beginner may not have: an external flash with manual power control and a tilting/swiveling flash head, and a wireless communication system for the camera and flash equipment.
