Now that time has passed and this book is almost printed, I realize when it was that these writings became a kind of antidote to lost seasons. Salvation, one could say, through play. Long before I'd even considered publishing them in book form, I spent a lot of time playing around, drawing these tablets on pieces of gold foil I found in packs of cigarettes or around chocolate bars, as if to offer them - I have no idea how - to the hands and mouths of the dead who've begun to surround me. I then began to inscribe them on mirrors, so that the simple reading of letters and words would instantly obscure any faces, starting with my own.
作者簡介
Frank Andre Jamme has published twelve books of poems and fragments since 1981, as well as numerous illustrated books. He has been praised by Edmond Jabes, Henri Michauax and Rene Char and translated by John Ashbery. He is also a specialist and curator of contemporary Indian tantric, brut and tribal arts. He lives in Paris and Burgundy. Translator Bio: Charles Borkhuis is a poet, playwright, film writer, essayist, and professor of English at Touro College. He lives in NYC. In addition to his seven volumes of poetry, Borkhuis has translated the poetry of Vyacheslav Kuritsyn, Mofei, in the forthcoming anthology Against All Odds: Chinese Poetry Today (Talisman House 2007).
