Verity Browne is also there, much as she despises the so-called Cliveden Set. She has been ordered by her superiors in the Communist Party to get as close as possible to one of the Astors' guests, Joseph Kennedy, the American ambassador, who is convinced that Britain can never win a war against militant Germany.
Then the body of a man is found in the Cliveden grounds. and Verity is shocked to recognize a fellow journalist. As war looms ever closer, Edward and Verity enter a tense race against time to identify Churchill's would-be assassin and the murderer of her friend.

作者簡介
David Roberts worked in publishing for over thirty years before devoting his energies to writing full time. He is the author of eight mysteries featuring Lord Edward Corinth and Verity Browne. He is married and divides his time between London and Wiltshire, England.
