Amply illustrated with color photographs, this oversize volume (9x12") explores bast and fiber leaf weaving traditions from around the world. The writers discuss the materials and dyeing and weaving techniques, as well as uses of the fabrics created, from everyday clothing to religious and other ceremonial uses. Issues in contemporary weaving and concerns regarding preserving these colorful traditions also are discussed. The volume was edited by Milgram (anthropology, Ontario College of Art and Design) and Hamilton, curator of Asian and Pacific Collections at UCLA's Fowler Museum. 作者簡介
Roy W. Hamilton is curator of Asian and Pacific collections at the Fowler Museum at UCLA. B. Lynne Milgram is professor of anthropology at Ontario College of Art and Design, Toronto. The other contributors include Sylvia Fraser-Lu, Bu-ja Koh, Sophiano Limol, Elizabeth Oley, Melisssa M. Rinne, Donald H. Rubinstein, Amanda Mayer Stinchecum, Ma Thanegi, and Tran Thi Thu Thuy.
