作者來自被譽為全世界最快樂的國家――不丹，特以「在地人」的身份將「家鄉之美」介紹給大眾，書中特別著墨於「蓮師殊勝的伏藏聖地與典故」，因此文章中不僅回溯歷史並呈現當代的場景，希冀透過圖文並茂與多樣語文的闡述，提供讀者見證蓮師與佛陀無二無別真實存在於地球。同時，希望喚醒全世界關注不丹是如何成為全世界最快樂的國家？不丹在教育、環保和經濟上，運用了何種道理與方法？祈願 鑒古知今，眾人發揮一己之力，為地球創造更美好的環境；更祈願 人人成為快樂的人，地球是銀河系中最快樂的星球。(※不丹人民穿戴的服飾，用以表徵包裹經典的莊嚴與典雅方式；正提醒著――自身即是一部「經典」、自心即是「伏藏」。)

佛陀入滅前預言：「吾將於入滅後八年，於鄔金國以蓮花化生，示現金剛上師蓮花生，吾乃密咒乘大圓滿之總持。」《蓮師在不丹》一書的緣起，乃為感念佛陀的恩德，佛陀乃十方諸佛的總集；佛陀「此」滅，「彼」生――蓮花生大師。蓮師入娑婆為利益不同根機的眾生，而將佛法的道理與方法分為九乘次第來傳授；更為因應時代的驟變與紛亂，將法教封存為「伏藏」，以利益未來際眾生。

葛多杰
本書作者西元1970年出生於不丹中部的苯塘地區；從小就讀於不丹森斗卡文化學校；1991-1996前往印度喜馬甲省的康巴噶佛學院學習佛教論典、寧瑪白玉佛學院學習論典及密法。1997來到臺灣的師範大學語言中心學習中文；目前從事藏文翻譯工作。著有《利益眾生‧觀音修持儀軌及注釋──殊勝功德法》/《「中陰聞即解脫」生活導讀‧「頗瓦法」實修工具簡介》等書。

About the author
Dorji Jamtshok was born in 1970 in the district of Bumthang of central Bhutan. He attended Samtokha Language and Culture Studies School in Bhutan at a very young age. In 1991-1996, he studied Buddhist treaties and tantrism at Tashi Jong Khampagar Buddhist College and Bir Nyingma Buddhist College in Himachal Pradesh, India.
In 1997, he came to Taiwan and enrolled at the Mandarin Training Center of the National Taiwan Normal University. Currently, he devotes himself to the translation of Buddhist literatures from Tibetan to Chinese. His notable works include: For the Benefits of Living Beings: Guided Prayers and Practice of Yidam Chenrezig, Instruction on Bardo Liberation through hearing on the After-Death Plane, The Teachings of Phowa: Transference of Consciousness at the Time of Death, and many others.

不丹王國是蓮花生大師(Guru Rinpoche)所加持的極殊勝之伏藏聖地，亦即人們心中的香格里拉。來至西藏的夏尊法王(Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal)將不丹建構為政教合一、篤信佛法的民主國家；之後的歷代國王不遺餘力地保存固有傳統文化、守護大自然珍奇稀有的物種。
第四任國王吉美辛給汪秋(Jigme Singye Wangchuk)與現任國王吉美給舍南給汪秋(Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk)，推動「全國快樂Gross National Happiness」政策，使得不丹成為全世界最快樂的國家。
目前世界各地的民眾非常嚮往旅遊不丹，因此每年前往不丹朝聖與觀光的人數正逐年創新高。為方便來訪者了解蓮花生大師如何將不丹加持為伏藏聖地、埋藏諸多妙法與寶藏，利益後人並廣植福田，因而留下身印、手印、腳印之印記……等等事蹟，進而透過本書簡短的介紹，明白其中的典故與意涵。
《蓮師在不丹》並不是一本提供學者們研究學問的書籍，而是提供給對蓮師具信心的法友，瞭解蓮師如何在不丹弘法的參考。由於伏藏法門深奧艱澀，如筆者般凡夫實難一窺堂奧。因此，朝聖或參觀時如何建立合宜的動機與態度行為，以利成就功德、累積資糧並獲得加持，便格外重要了。
筆者編著本書的目的是希望對參訪者有所助緣；但由於個人涉獵有限，書中文字、內容或引用如有錯誤或疏漏，願於諸大學者座前懺悔，敬請 十方大德海涵。 葛多杰

Bhutan is renowned for its many sacred sites of Terma treasure concealed and blessed by Guru Rinpoche, and is regarded worldwide as a mystical Shangri-La. The founder of Bhutan, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (1594-1651), born in Tibet, unified Bhutan as a democratic state. He was the first to establish Buddhism as state religion, and initiated a dual governmental system of religion and politics. It was upon this foundation that all his successors had spared no effort in maintaining Bhutan’s tradition and culture, and in safeguarding its rare flora and fauna species.
The “Gross National Happiness” policy promulgated by Jigme Singye Wangchuk, the fourth King, and the incumbent Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk, had ranked Bhutan as the happiest country of the world.
As the number of pilgrims and tourists yearning for a trip to Bhutan rises each year, it is therefore very important that they have a brief understanding of the allusions and implications containing in the profound Terma treasures (the hidden treasure of Dharma teachings and other precious objects), the story behind the imprints of body, hand and foot, and many other miraculous deeds performed by Guru Rinpoche.
Following Guru Rinpoche’s Footsteps in Bhutan is not intended as an academic text for intellectual studies, instead, it aims to arouse the faith in Guru Rinpoche, and to provide a useful reference to his teachings in the early days. The profound and abstruse nature of Terma makes it very difficult for an ordinary man like myself to grasp its deepest meanings. It is therefore of exceptional importance that people should equip themselves with appropriate motivation, attitude and behavior, if they want to accumulate merits, make provisions, and gain blessings.
It is my sincerest wish that the book will assist visitors who are aspired to explore the Land of the Thunder Dragon. 伏藏功德不思議
Inconceivable merits of terma site
蓮花生大師探訪不丹各地時，都會在當地實修並示現各種神變。蓮花生大師為利益眾生，特別慈悲地埋藏許多「伏藏」──象徵十方諸佛菩薩之身、語、意、三密、事業諸功德。以極有價值的佛像，象徵十方諸佛菩薩之「身」的功德；以經典象徵十方諸佛菩薩之「語」的功德；以舍利塔與舍利子，象徵十方諸佛菩薩之「意」的功德；以珠寶象徵十方諸佛菩薩之「三密/悲智力」的功德；以埋藏不計其數的初級解脫之甘露，象徵十方諸佛菩薩之「佛行事業」的功德。
依據掘藏師謝惹洛典(Sherab Lodan)在辛給宗聖地所取出的伏藏，蓮花生大師預言辛給宗聖地之功德，如是云：
埋藏眾多諸珍寶 地底地面遍伏藏 高山斷崖留足跡
再者
遍處聖地悉實修 尋覓洞穴得成就
無數伏藏埋聖地 稀有功德不可思
When visiting Bhutan, Guru Rinpoche would conduct practices and displayed various psychic powers. He had also concealed many termas for the benefits of living beings. Among them, Buddha statues represents the body; scriptures represents the speech; pagodas and relics represents the mind; precious stones represents the merits; and numerous liberation nectar represents the virtuous karmas of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

According to the Terma Texts uncovered by Terton Sherab Lodan at Singye Dzong, the merits prophesied by Guru Rinpoche were as follows:
“Concealed were a host of precious treasures.
 On earth and underground, and in high mountains and cliffs,
 my footprints shall remain.”
Further,
“At every holy site, I conducted practice,
 and searched the cave and accomplished my goal.
 Numerous are the terma holy sites, incredibly rare are the merits gained.”

親履聖地心想成

在不丹，蓮花生大師降伏迫害佛法之邪魔，並加持了所有聖地。依照蓮花生大師預言──未來，將有許多掘藏師，前往諸聖地實修、取出伏藏與開發聖地。爾後，高僧大德也絡繹不絕前來殊勝聖地閉關實修。
因此，前往伏藏聖地朝聖或參訪，即能消除現世不順的種種障礙，不但可累積廣大資糧，修行證量也將增長；臨終時神識將往生西方極樂淨土，此為極殊勝之功德力。
After subduing the demons and evil spirits, Guru Rinpoche gave his blessings to all the holy sites in Bhutan. According to his prophecies, many tertons would uncover the terma, developed the holy sites, and conducted practice. Later, many Buddhist high monks would also come here to practice.
Those who are fortunate enough to come here for pilgrimage, visiting or worshiping, will eliminate various karmic obstructions. Besides accumulating immense provisions, increasing genuine realization; he or she can also gain the supreme merit of being reborn in the western pure land.

根據《阿迦聖地記載》，蓮花生大師如是云：
「未來，眾生來到聖地禮佛、祈請、繞塔、薈供、點燈……等等，依自身信心與誠心作供養或祈願，現世將不會有痛苦與匱乏，能獲得圓滿的財富與心想事成，來世往生至蓮師我的銅色吉祥淨土。不要疑惑！」
According to the Terma Texts of Aja Nye, Guru Rinpoche thus said:
“In the future, living beings who come here for paying homage, worshiping purposes by making tower circumambulation, feast offering, lamp lightening etc., according to the proportion to their self-confidence and devotion, not only will they not encounter sufferings and paucity in this life, they will also be reborn in Copper-Coloured Mountain. Do not have any doubts!”

根據掘藏師貝瑪林巴在堪巴宗聖地所取出的伏藏，蓮花生大師如是云：
所有男女修行者 實修禪定祈增長 是故證得持明位
參訪聖地諸眾生 惡緣業障化清淨 一切心想如是成
According to the Terma scripture uncovered by Terton Padma Lingpa, Guru Rinpoche said as follows:
“Dharma practitioners, men and women, pray for the enhancement of meditation practice, will attain vidyadhara-holder achievement. Those who visit the holy sites will clear off bad karmic connections and obstructions, and all wishes will thus be fulfilled.”

祖古諸美倫度(Gyurmed Lhundrub)在聖地如是云：
一切殊勝聖地洞穴中 任一精進修行之行者
增長殊勝共同之成就 所修無上法門悉成辦
有朝一日屆臨命終時 心之本性剎時往淨土
 無修能得佛果不疑惑 」
Tulku Gyurmed Lhundrub instructed at the holy site as follows:
 “In all the caves of supreme holy sites, whoever practices diligently, will increase supreme and common accomplishment, all supreme teachings will be attained.
At the time of death, one’s nature of the mind will bound for pure land. Without a doubt, Buddhahood can be attained without practice.”

依據掘藏師謝惹洛典(Sherab Lodan)在辛給宗聖地所取出的伏藏，蓮花生大師預言辛給宗聖地之功德，如是云：
將來有緣之眾生 於此實修得成就 銘記預言印心中
According to the Terma Texts uncovered by Terton Sherab Loden at Singye Dzong, the merits prophesied by Guru Rinpoche were as follows:
“In future, living beings with good karmic connections, will accomplish by practicing here. Keep in mind this prophecy I have made.”

聖地實修百倍乘
More than one hundred times greater the accomplishment
一般實修「一年一個月」的早晚課、行善所累積之資糧與消業障的功德力，如在蓮花生大師所加持的聖地實修，只需「一個月一天」；意即在蓮師聖地實修，可獲得無上殊勝之功德力。
The meritorious power from meditation, provisions accumulation and bad karmas elimination resulting from one year/month’s practice elsewhere, can be acquired in one month/day’s practice at the holy site. That is, by Guru Rinpoche’s blessing, one can obtain more supreme meritorious powers.

依據掘藏師謝惹洛典(Sherab Lodan)在辛給宗聖地所取出的伏藏，蓮花生大師預言辛給宗聖地之功德，如是云：
證得成就殊聖地 墮落輪迴苦海之 不明出離諸眾生
斷離罣礙前來此 放下萬緣清淨修 一切善根同增長
積年累月得成就 蓮師降臨賜加持 銘記心中有緣人
According to the Terma Texts uncovered by Terton Sherab Loden at Singye Dzong, the merits prophesied by Guru Rinpoche were as follows:
“Realization will you attain at holy site.
You, who sink deep in samsaric ocean of sufferings,
Ignorant beings not knowing renunciation,
Abandoning cares and worries, out here you should come.
Let go of all worldly affairs,
All virtuous capacities will grow.
Accomplishment will be gained through years of practices.
I, Ugyen, will descend and bless upon you.
Bear this in mind, the one with good karmic connection.”

根據《阿迦聖地記載》，蓮花生大師如是云：
「在此聖地實修一個月累積的功德力，將是他處實修一年累積資糧之幾百倍，此乃蓮師我金剛語之預言。」
According to the Terma Texts of Aja Nye, Guru Rinpoche instructed as follows:
“Merit accumulated by practicing here one month, equals several hundredfold of merits gained from one year’s practice elsewhere. This, I, Guru Rinpoche will now predict.”
