商品簡介
From the times when immigrant audiences in makeshift cinema halls read subtitles from silent films aloud together, film has been used as a technique to teach reading and comprehension skills. Holmes (curriculum and instruction, U. of Mississippi) shows how teachers can use foreign films, especially their subtitles in English, to help students develop on-the-spot reading skills as they follow the plot and learn about other cultures and times. The 24 film guides, which integrate language arts and social studies, include classics such as Rashomon and The Bicycle Thief along with popular films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
